Is someone passing around stupid juice at Republican dinner parties? Rich Lowry thinks the Huck would be a keen choice for Veep:
the press likes Huckabee (for now), he's a different kind of Republican, and his selection would be such a shock, it might even be considered bold.
Let's see how long the press likes Huck once he becomes an actual contender. They also used to *HEART* McCain, if you recall. Despite the fact that Huck stands for so many things media liberals loathe, the press has boosted Huck for one reason--they and their Dem allies have considered him an "easy kill" for the Dems in the general election--and they're probably right in that assessment. Jonathan Adler has more sense:
[I]f McCain were to select Huckabee as his running mate he would lose my vote for sure. I'm luke-warm on McCain to begin with, but I care enough about judges, trade, judges, spending, and judges that I'm still likely to pull the lever for him come November. But not if he were to tap the Huckster.
I think I'm with Adler. I haven't decided to vote for McCain, but Huck would probably be a deal-killer for me.
